The demand for humanitarian aid has always been on the rise, and there was always a need for cutting-edge solutions to address it. Through numerous initiatives, organizations, startups and individuals are making their way to resolve modern problems.

Developing technical solutions for the issues related to food and agriculture were always among the main objectives of FOODCOIN ECOSYSTEM, and it could not pass unnoticed. The Team was invited to participate in Humanitarian Hackathon organized by World Food Programme, which will take place the 15 – 16 January at Egmont Palace in Brussels.

The initiative belongs to Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and International Development. Besides FOODCOIN and other startups, other participants will also include Belgian and international humanitarian NGO's, social enterprises, academics and scientists, professional designers, developers and engineers.

There are numerous topics which the Hackathon will cover, based on several basic challenges: ensuring transparent and efficient procurement process for school feeding, empowering smallholder farmers to access the wide market, and other fields, which suppose the use of cutting-edge technologies to address climate change and provide humanitarian aid and emergency response.
